Spring is coming

Finally the buds are blooming. After an unseasonably warm, dry winter the rain has come to soak everything. In the meantime, the trees are starting to wake up from their winter nap. On Saturday morning, I drove Dimitri over to his place in North Beach before heading into the glass studio. A good day to work in the studio while the rain falls outside. After a capuccino at Cafe Roma, I took a hike up and over coit tower to the stairs on the other side. Decending the stairs I saw the rain clouds hanging over the East Bay. Looking a little dreary. Then I noticed that the trees lining the steps were starting to bloom. It's a great feeling, in the midst of February when I know that summer is far away, to see the leaves and buds on the trees. Knowing that soon, the sky will be sunny and the world will be green again.

New Car!

Finally, the '92 can be put out to pasture. At 207,000 miles and a recent stereo abduction, we're ready for a fresh horse.
Our first new car. If only the Jetta can go 420 miles on a single tank of gas.

Is this February?

A gorgeous night in North Beach. A sliver of a moon rises over the downtown skyline.
Dimitri is visiting and has an apartment in North Beach for the duration of his stay. We drove in for dinner in the neighborhood, but L'Osteria is closed due to an oven problem. We wind up taking out a pizza and go back to the apartment so Zoe can crawl around and fall asleep, under a great view.

Work & Play in the City

Zoe wants more agua fresca. She's enjoying her first Mission burrito at El Toro.

Fun on the swings at Duboce children's playground.

The working mommy sets up a small event at the zoo. When it's time to go, it's too late to visit the lions, but just in time for a beautiful sunset over Ocean Beach.

Taking the long way home through the Presidio

Valentines Day

The city in a sunrise glow from the bay bridge. On my way home after the early morning flower mart.

A busy day ends with some zen time at the glass studio. After months of slow work and bloody fingers, I've gotten through the toughest cuts.

A last minute shopper can pick up a meaningful card at Safeway (or a pack of diapers). Safeway categorizes the cards by subject headings for easy grab & go shopping. What heading best describes your feelings towards your valentine? "You've been there for me", "Our time will come", "Missing you is Bittersweet", "Troubled Relationship", "We've found a lasting relationship in this troubled world".
